Tennis Registration & Court Regulations - 2009
Registration for Photo I.D. Tennis Passes will be held at the Fort Lee Recreation Center on Stillwell Avenue beginning Monday, March 30, 2009.
I. Registration Procedures
A. Previous members may have their cards re-validated at the Recreation Center during the following hours:
(Proof of Fort Lee residency is required each year.)
B. Residents who do not already possess a Recreation Department Tennis ID for re-validation must get their photo ID taken at the Fort Lee Community Center, 1355 Inwood Terrace beginning Monday, March 30th during the following hours.

C. Only the Following Items Will be Accepted as Proof of Residency:
a Community Center ID, lease, deed, property tax bill, maintenance agreement, or most recent cancelled rent check or maintenance check.
II. Tennis Court Fees

III. Guest Passes
Must be purchased in blocks of 5 at $15.00 per block.

I. GENERAL
Tennis courts are reserved exclusively for the enjoyment of members who are FORT LEE RESIDENTS and their Guests. Some courts may be temporarily closed due to Fort Lee High School practices and matches as well as lessons sponsored solely by the Fort Lee Recreation Department.
II. GUEST PROCEDURES
Guests will be permitted on tennis courts provided they are accompanied by a Fort Lee resident possessing both a Photo I.D. Tennis Pass and a valid Guest Tennis Pass. Guest passes are:
- Purchased in blocks of 5 with the option of purchasing additional blocks, if necessary.
- Valid for one season, commencing March 30th. Unused guest passes may not be carried over to the next year.
III. RESERVATION PROCEDURES
Recreation Center Courts:
- Tennis players should report to the attendant on duty before entering a court. Players who do not report to an attendant may be asked to leave.
- Tennis courts may be reserved up until two hours in advance with the attendant on duty.
- Players reserving courts must:
- Be present at the courts. No reservation will be accepted by telephone.
- Present a current Photo I.D. Tennis Pass to the attendant.
- Courts may be reserved for a one-hour period of time.
IV. TENNIS COURT RULES – ALL BOROUGH COURTS
When others are waiting:
- All play is restricted to one hour.
- A court must be occupied by a minimum of two players and no more than four players (doubles) with the exception of Recreation Department sponsored activities.
V. GENERAL RULES
- Members must have their Photo I.D. Tennis Pass with them at all times to use courts.
- Adults 18 years of age and older have priority of court use on weekends and after 6:00 PM on weekdays.
- Mixed adult-youth play is permitted at all times.
- Shirts and proper attire must be worn at all times.
- Tennis shoes or sneakers are required on courts at all times.
- Borough sponsored programs, whether tennis or otherwise, take precedence over all other play.
- Food and drink are prohibited on courts. No smoking on the courts.
- Bicycles, carriages, skateboards, rollerblades, etc. are NOT permitted on courts.
- No animals are allowed in any part of the park, including the tennis court enclosures.
- All injuries must be reported immediately to the attendant on duty.
- No paid or unpaid group lessons will be permitted on courts except those sponsored by the Recreation Department, and listed in the Department’s brochure.
- No paid or unpaid private lessons will be permitted on the tennis courts. Violators (teacher and student) will lose court privileges.
- Physical and verbal abuse of others is forbidden as is loud, violent, or obscene language and disorderly or lewd conduct.
- The Recreation Department’s authorized personnel has the right to revoke any pass or eject any player for failure to comply with the aforementioned rules.
VI. TENNIS COURT LOCATIONS AND HOURS
- Hours of Operation
- Under no circumstances will tennis play commence prior to 8:00AM Monday through Sunday.
- Weather permitting; all courts will be available Monday through Sunday, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM at the Recreation Center, and 8:00 AM to dark on all other courts.
