Fall 2004 Leaf Collection Program Schedule
Leaf Collection Dates: Begins October 12 - Ends December 10

The Borough’s annual curbside leaf collection program will commence on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Pick-ups will begin in a sequence of districts, so that residents will know when the vacuum trucks and equipment will come to their street. Please refer to the map for leaf pick-ups in your district.

Due to the New Jersey Mandatory Recycling Act, leaves may no longer be disposed of with household trash. Therefore, the following rules must be followed:

• Leaves are to be raked to the edge of your property and spread along the entire frontage of the curb.
• Plastic bags are no longer allowed in the landfill, therefore, residents are to use biodegradable bags only.
• Leaves must be raked into the curb but not in a manner that will impede the flow of storm water runoff or to clog catch basins.
• Branches cannot be mixed with leaves. Leaves with branches, garden clippings, or debris will not be picked up.
• Sidewalks must be kept free of leaves.
• Keep leaves downstream if raked near catch basins to prevent leaves from entering basins.
• It is imperative that leaves are at the curb prior to 7:00 AM on the scheduled pick-up day.
• During the day of leaf pick-up, no vehicles will be allowed to park at curbside between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM. They will be ticketed and subject to tow.
• Parking rules will be strictly enforced. No exceptions.
• Any owner, landlord, or tenant that employs a landscaper must inform the landscaper of the rules and regulations of the pick-up schedule. Trucks will not return to an area after a pick-up day.

In accordance with the recommendations of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, it is preferred that the leaves be bagged, so that they do not end up clogging our sewers.

Special Notes:

• Prevent fires - do not park vehicles on raked leaves.
• Only recyclable paper bags will be picked up.
• Put leaves at curb one day prior to the day they are scheduled to be picked up.
• Vehicles should not be parked in front of homes during scheduled leaf pick-up day.
• Check map to determine your leaf pick-up day.
• Leaves will be picked up by Borough personnel, not by the garbage collector.
• No pick-up on Thanksgiving Day. Scheduled areas will be overlapped.
